I see you in this pain and I know what this feels like. It’s okay that it hurts. There is nothing wrong with you. There is nothing that needs fixing.
There’s no expiry date when your grief is no longer valid.
I get it. This is agonizing. There have been so many moments when I have wanted my grief to disappear.
But I truly believe that integration of our loss happens when we are honest about our experience. When we see ourselves and our grief clearly, without shame or the pressure to be better.
And when we do this in community...
The power of connection between widows is transformative.
What we really need are spaces to be, exactly as we are.
To tell our stories. To be held.
And to be told, "Me too”, “You’re not alone", & “I won’t turn away”.
Rebuilding will happen.
But not in one magical moment when we are entirely healed.
It happens within & in-between the devastation. It’s all one big messy, murky, wild experience of painful growth & change. And if we’re honest about our experience, that’s when we rebuild our lives authentically.
We all have an internal wisdom.
We are each our own grief expert.
We don’t need pressure & we don’t need to be fixed.
We need connection.
We need to be heard.
We need to be seen.

Hi love, I’m Mira.
WIDOW, MOTHER, WRITER, & GRIEF COACH TO OTHER WOMEN LIKE ME, WHO HAVE LOST THEIR PERSON.
In 2019, my love, Brian, died after a horrific seven-week cancer journey. I was left alone with our then almost three-year-old daughter, a broken sense of self, and a heart that was both expanded & utterly destroyed.
Nothing made sense in my life anymore.
And yes, people around me saw that I’d lost him but what they didn’t understand, was that I had also lost me too.
I remember lying on the floor sobbing & just wishing for even one widow friend. Just one person, who could understand the depths of this pain & how deeply everything had changed.
In the moment, it felt like I was the only person who had ever experienced this type of a loss.
Building the I See You, Sister Community came out of that moment, lying on the floor and feeling completely & entirely empty.
All I wanted at the time, was a space like this.
A space where my grief could be held, honoured, seen, and loved - with other women who got it.

I signed up for the ISYS Community because I was desiring connection with other widows & also a connection with Mira. It has been SUCH a blessing to have joined. Since I found Mira and joined the ISYS Community, I have found a a sense of connection with her & the other women – who are going through the same experience as me. I joined because I was seeking the companionship of other widows and I had been following Mira for a while. ISYS has made me feel seen, heard, loved, & most importantly, understood - without having to educate about grief & loss first.
ISYS has brought me some coveted peace, and every woman here has reinforced that there is no “one way” to do this – to grieve the loss of the center of our worlds – but rather, many ways to approach the healing. ISYS has taught me how to sit in the grief, and how to embrace and integrate it vs. compartmentalizing it on Sunday mornings. I have more optimism and hope for the future now, and I also know that I have a safety net to catch me and hold me, should I need it moving forward.
